Is SmartPCFix Virus and How to Remove/Uninstall It?

PC user’s help request (quote):

First of all i am not computer literate at all so i will try my best to explain as best as possible when i start my computer i have a pop that states Attention 5988 errors are slowing down your computer, would you like to register isharpsoft registry cleaner Pro , I have searched and searched but i cannot remove this software i have tried on safe mode and ran malware remover with no success it did find some other type files which where successfully deleted'.

It has been widely accepted that SmartPCFix (Smart PC Fix) is a rogue security application or at least nasty software to ruin PC performance rather than fix PC problems as its name suggests. Some say that SmartPCFix is a fake registry cleaner program while some would be willing to download it from CNET or Softonic for whatever reasons. But as what Global PC Support Center suggests, it is safer to uninstall SmartPCFix for the below reasons:

SmartPCFix installs without permission: according to observations, a majority of PC users run into SmartPCFix after downloading and installing some third-party programs with “recommended” installation means. (tip: there is always a way to opt-out of unwanted add-ons like SmartPCFix. Read carefully at every prompt when installing a program, and always go into a 'custom' install rather than accepting the defaults since the ability to opt-out is hidden under the 'custom' install path and not the default path.)

SmartPCFix does not appear in the add/remove section: generally speaking, normal program installed onto a computer will display itself in the add/remove section. At least it would come in with self-uninstall tool. While SmartPCFix has done none of these, which indicates that rogue techniques could have been adopted and some system configurations might have been modified to hide it up. This can compromise a computer to become susceptible to infections aggressive infections such as CryptoDefense.

SmartPCFix does not fix anything: it is weird for a computer-friendly program not to fix problems but to arouse more troubles such as error problems as quoted in the user’s help request. If you don’t think SmartPCFix is helpful, it is advisable to remove it so as to save recourse and to guarantee smooth PC performance.

Actually the below problems have been detected along with SmartPCFix’s running on a machine:
  1. Computer installed with Smart PC Fix will freeze from time to time.
  2. Error messages happen to warn about corrupt file and registry entries will neither be fixed nor stopped.
  3. Computer performance becomes sluggish due to significantly consumed CPU resource.
  4. Important files/folders might become inaccessible because of Smart PC Fix.
  5. Automatic redirection may be seen to display spoofing/spam sites.
  6. Browsers might give away tardy response due to endless commercial pop-ups.
  7. Additional browser applications might be installed without knowledge.

It is not worth enduring those problems to allow potential dangers to grow bigger as the mess browser could be targeted by infections and taken advantage to spread vicious code. Below are the steps to follow up and help yourself. Should you run into any difficulties, you are welcome to contact recommended PC Technology Support Center and get quick support.

Such phenomenon shares much common with Windows AntiBreach Patrol, an identified rogueware. There’s no intention to scare victims that the registration page can be programmed with VBScript language that could be utilized in recording input information. Thus financial information might be collected. It is always safer to change another password if any registration has been made.
