Fix Browser Crash: Why Browser Crashes and What Are the Consequences?



I am going completely nuts. I have firefox 3 and IE8 beta for my browsers. Both crash all the time. I have reformatted my computer and the problem still presists. Can anybody help please. I have tried everything to clearing my cookies, cache, disk clean up, anti virus, spyware and finally reinstalling my windows disk. It is wrong to consider that browser crash is caused exclusively by browser items. In effect, there are many more reasons to cause browser crash and some are beyond our control:
  • Cache
  • Add-ins
  • Browser bug
  • Memory leak
  • Complex CSS
  • Virus affection
  • Overload in server
  • Redundant web data
  • Low system configuration
  • Thread of execution deadlocks
  • File descriptor is absent in progress
  • Frequent requests from small HTTP
  • Log file overflows the volume of disk
  • Pointers on C of web service encounter error
  • Temporary table in SQL server becomes insufficient


Problems Coming with Browser Crash

  1. Error message like Twunk_32.exe would occur.
  2. CPU is consumed considerably and it won’t stay stable.
  3. Additional infections might be detected by installed anti-virus programs,
  4. Malfunctions/dysfunction may emerge to surface.
Since surfing the Internet becomes the major method for people to obtain daily information, browser crash would impose adverse impact to great extent. Solution  has been given away by Google but for Chrome only. If you encounter crashes on other browsers, you are welcome to follow the steps here:


One – remove suspicious add-ons and extensions.

IE - Tools > Manage add-ons > ‘Toolbars and Extensions’ > remove suspicious items.

Firefox - Tools > Options > ‘Add-ons’ > remove suspicious items > ‘plugins’ panel > select ‘Never Activate’.

Chrome - click on the spanner icon > "Tools" > ‘Extensions’ > remove suspicious items.

Opera - Opera menu > select Extensions > Manage Extensions > remove suspicious items.



Two – empty out cache.

IE - Tools > Safety option > “Delete browsing history” > tick Cookies > “Delete” button.

Chrome - ‘Customize and control’ menu > Tools > “Clear Browsing Data” > “Delete cookies …” > “Clear browsing data”.

Firefox - Tools > “Cookie Manager” > Manage Stored Cookies > remove the vicious cookies or all of them.

Opera - Open up Opera > press and hold Alt+P key > Privacy and Safety > “Cookie” > click on “all cookies and website data” button > remove all cookies as recommended.


Three – show hidden files to remove files.


Windows 8 - Windows Explorer > View tab > tick ‘File name extensions’ and ‘Hidden items’ > “OK” button.

Windows 7/XP/Vista - ‘Control Panel’ > user accounts and family safety > ‘Folder Options’ > View tab > tick ‘Show hidden files and folders’ > non-tick ‘Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)’ > ‘OK’ button.


Four – install patches to both browsers and system.


Five – remove redundant Registry Editor by some optimizer.



Apart from the above steps, you may also check the following things to troubleshoot browser crash:
  1. Did you install the motherboard drivers?
  2. Try a(nother) network card.
  3. Swap the router ports.
  4. Check device manager for problems.
  5. Try ping from the command prompt. What happens?
  6. Does pop3 email work?
